Mari Ahokoivu featured on our blog a month or so ago with her wonderful direct drawing activity (translated from her guide to making comics, Sarjakuvantekïjan Opas, mentioned just below). Now she’s back as a (we hope) regular contributor with a look into to her history as a teacher and her teaching philosophy. When she asked, “Can I draw the post?” I knew we had a winner! Mari Ahokoivu (b. 1984) has studied comics in Liminka art school and in EESI, Angoulême. Her publications include books Sarjakuvantekijän opas (BTJ kustannus 2007) and Löydä minut tästä kaupungista (Asema 2009). Her comics has been published in many anthologies and magazines including C’est Bon Anthology and Kuti. Ahokoivu also teaches comics and works in various projects with the Finnish Comics Society.
