Over and above the textbook support you can find in the Book Guides section, the Resources section offers additional lesson plans, activities, and insights into making and teaching comics.

Syllabi & Lesson Plans

This section includes editable syllabi for the Drawing Words for a variety of formats, including 15-week, 10-week, and 5-day courses.

Other teachers have also contributed syllabi and lesson plans, including the Teaching Comics to Teens guide, which walks through a two-week course for teenagers, day by day.

Activities

A wide variety of activities for a single work session, solo or in a group, including jam comics, the panel lottery, drawing prompts, foldy minicomics, and a comic made with no pictures in it.

Process & Craft

In this section: Quickguides to laying out bleeds, hand lettering, page layout, and scanning. In addition, there are essays, interviews, and demo videos that go deeper into how comics get made.
