Mastering Comics

It’s been snorting at the starting gate for a few weeks now, and after a brief warm up run around the course at TCAF, today Mastering Comics: Drawing Words & Writing Pictures Continued is officially released barrelling and sprinting into the world! Please buy a copy from your favorite bookseller, ask your library to order a copy or two. Thanks for all of your support and cheering up to this point, now let’s see how this baby handles on the open road (oops, switched metaphors!).

Speaking of asking libraries to order a copy or two, just yesterday I checked out the copy of Mastering Comics that my library ordered, and I noticed what I believe to be a mistake on page 20 as I was reading it this morning.

In the ‘Narrative arc’ sidebar, you guys refer to the fourth episode of Star Wars as Star Wars, Episode 4: A New Beginning — but it should be Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope! D: (I suppose the Roman numeral is technically optional, but it’s what was used in the movie itself, so… ¯\(º_O)/¯ I dunno.) I just felt the need to point that out. ^^’

Anyway — I’ve been reading it straight through so far (no skimming for me!*), and it’s just as awesome (if not more so!) as I was expecting it to be! :D Out of curiosity, are you guys planning on a third book in this series, or is this gonna be it? :)

*I prefer not to skim a book as good and educational as this; instead, I read it from cover to cover, attempting to absorb and assimilate its knowledge and store it all away for later — at the very least until I buy the book. :p

Dang, I’m sure you’re right about the New HOPE–we need some geekier copyeditors!

Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you’re enjoying the book so far.

No plans to do a third book. But time will tell…

    You’re welcome, Matt. :D

I am indeed enjoying it. I’m also definitely going to see about buying myself a copy of it soon, if I can… :)
