Announcing Mastering Comics

It’s been a long time coming, but our second textbook is finally finished, and nearly ready for bookstores! We are excited to announce that Mastering Comics will go on sale May 8th, 2012. We just heard from the printer that pages are printed and they’re giving them a nice long dry before binding so that they stay nice for all you lovely people. Watch this space for news and details about the new book as well as our appearances this spring and summer.

We can’t wait to share this new work with you.

With an Ames lettering guide on the cover! And pencils and pens and ink! I’m smiling already. Best of luck getting it done and out, I’m looking forward to reading it.

I’m so excited! Can’t wait to pick it up! It’ll be perfect timing as I’ll have just finished a graphic novel studio course at Emily Carr University.

Fantastic! If this volume is as comprehensive and focused as the last one, aspiring cartoonists are in for a treat! Thank you for giving the world comics education at an affordable price!

This is fantastic. Being in the thick of my first serious project (this one will be finished), this book could not have come sooner. I’m always returning to DW-WP for reminders and brain-starters, but o! how I yearn for more advanced insight on comic composition, form, and style. Seems like this book will be exactly what I’ve been wanting. Thanks, Matt and Jessica, for all your hard work in an area that is otherwise lacking in quality resources!
