What the nib-holding industry doesn’t want you to know.

Man, we have the awesomest interns. Hilary Allison, star of one of my huge student spotlight posts last summer, has been our intern all year, and she’s as fabulous as one would have thought having read that post. She’s also as obsessive. She came in one day beaming because she’d cracked the Nib-Holding Industrial Complex’s iron grip on her student budget, and I encouraged her to throw a post together about it for you, dear readers. This is what she came up with.

Watch for more from Hilary this summer, as she works with Other Awesome Intern JP Kim on a Social Media for Art Students project.

Nibs? Nib holders? What century is this?!?

Here’s a REAL tip: go in the park and catch yourself a Canada Goose. It’s a whole mess of quill pens AND dinner all in one.

Well done Hilary! It’s good to see you being creative and participating so well. Greetings from Hamburg where I’m doing a Neil Simon play until the beginning of July. Very best wishes for your continuing work.

That’s good information – first time I’ve ever heard it – glad I came up with that idea.

Nice idea, but it doesn’t work! The nib falls out if you try to flex…
