The New York Times online teaches drawing

James McMullan, a wonderful illustrator and poster designer who Matt calls the “guru” of figure drawing at SVA, launches a new 12-part series in the online version of the New York Times to encourage adults to return to their drawing roots. He calls drawing the “phantom skill,” and rightly points out that we all draw joyously as children, but, too soon, drawing becomes the province of “experts” and most people stop.

Matt and I have long contended that drawing is a skill like any other, and anyone can learn. 100+ comments since the first article posted last night at 10 pm tell me that lots of other people agree.

Can’t wait to see more. Check it out here.
